“Building Futures from the Ground Up”
Grades 9th-12th | Private HS
Janus Liberal Arts High School is a small private, brand-new, forward-thinking educational community set to open in September, 2026 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our mission is to foster a holistic and enriching academic journey, blending the Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Fine and Performing Arts.
We’re building something special from the ground up! As we prepare to open our brand-new school, we’re seeking passionate and innovative teachers who want to help shape our curriculum and culture. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking educational community and to make a lasting impact.
Why become a teacher at JLA?
Small school, small classes, individual attention
Because we are a small private high school, the environment allows for more personalized teaching. You’re likely to build stronger relationships with students and see more direct impact.
Arts‐focused / Liberal Arts model
If you value arts education teachers in arts disciplines may get to work in a setting where that’s central, not peripheral.
Serving students who struggle in traditional systems, trauma‐informed approach
The school is reaching students who may need more support (smaller group sizes, more flexibility) and is embracing a trauma‐informed lens. If you’re passionate about equity, inclusion, helping students who haven’t succeeded elsewhere, you’ll likely find meaningful work here.
Flexibility & innovation in scheduling
We offer flexible schedules, some online options, individualized attention in a way that many traditional high schools don’t. This gives room for creativity and adapting to students’ needs.
Mission and purpose
Strong mission: developing students’ social responsibility, practical and intellectual skills; helping “forgotten” students; those who struggle in large group settings. Knowing that the work has impact and meaning can be very motivating.
